Right now I’m drinking the 2018 Starbucks Holiday Blend in K-cup form, which I’m a bit ambivalent about. It’s a medium roast, but much darker than the other K-cups in my cabinet. I enjoy it, for the most part. Is it my favorite coffee ever? No. Does it get the job done and make me feel a little bit festive? Why yes, it does.
I add some Natural Bliss Sweet Cream to it, which sweetens the deal. It’s also given me the chance to use my dad’s new Müeller than to stumble to the nearest Starbucks, seeing as my other coffee makers are all packed up for the big move.
The box claims that it’s a medium roast, and that it’s made with “bright, lively Latin American and smooth, earthy Indonesian beans.” It also says that it has “herbal and sweet maple tones to it,” and I dig that. My dad said that this year’s flavor is good, but that previous years’ flavors have fallen short and have been much too bold, despite claiming that it’s a medium roast.
Will next year be as mediocre as 2018? Will I even try it next year? Only time will tell.
Another down side is that it’s a K-cup, so of course it’s in plastic. I think it’s imperative that we decrease our plastic use, so I’ve been trying to avoid plastic products. I’ll find a new regular eventually, but it’s nice for now.
